Harriet Cruickshank

„Without Harriet [Rocky Horror] wouldn’t have happened!“ (Jim Sharman). By the time, Rocky Horror premiered at the Royal Court, Harriet Cruickshank was the manager of the Theatre Upstairs. It was her ambition and her connection to the Glasgow Citizen’s Theatre, that made the show possible. She brought Sue Blane on board, some of the actors from the Ciz, and organised the seats to make the theatre feel like a cinema. And it was Harriet who had to make the announcement to the audience (including Mick Jagger), that the last show is cancelled due to an unfortunate incident concerning Raynor Bourton’s private parts. But that’s another story. We spend a delightful morning with Harriet, chatting and listening to amazing stories around the beginning of The Rocky Horror Show and theatre in London in the early 1970s.
